Your Audience

In order to be a great social media manager you need to be aware of where your audience spends most of their time and these are the most used social media sites in Zimbabwe.

Facebook – 47.08%

Twitter – 22.5%

Pinterest – 21.44%

YouTube – 7.03%

Instagram – 0.8%

LinkedIn – 0.38%

Despite the rather low internet penetration rate in the country, mobile penetration in Zimbabwe for the year 2017 stood at 102.7%, meaning that there are more mobile phones than people in Zimbabwe. It is helpful to note that many Zimbabweans consider WhatsApp as a social media platform with at least 5.2 million WhatsApp users in Zimbabwe which brings us to our next helpful tip.

With the growing usage of WhatsApp and Facebook as messaging and marketing platforms, UTM tracking links are a great way to track and analyze how your content is doing through all different platforms. For example; The safest times to post on Facebook include weekdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m as Saturday has the least amount of engagement for the week. Notably, high engagement times include Monday at 9 a.m. and Tuesday at 6 p.m. The best time to post on Instagram however is Wednesday at 3 p.m., Thursday at 5 a.m., 11 a.m., and 3 to 4 p.m. and Friday at 5 a.m. Thursday is the best day to post to Instagram.
