My path wasn't straight or planned.
I started my career working in international development and humanitarian programmes, supporting organisations like UNICEF and the United Nations. The work mattered. It was structured, complex, and deeply people-focused.
There was a moment, however, that changed the direction of my career.
At the time, I was considering another UN role, which would have meant relocating again. As a family, we were talking it through when my son said something very simple:
“But Mom, Zimbabwe is home.”
That sentence stopped me.
I realised I didn’t want to keep moving my children from country to country. I wanted stability for them. I wanted Zimbabwe to stay home. At the same time, I needed a career that offered flexibility, independence, and control over my time and one where I could be present as a parent and still do meaningful, professional work on my own terms.
That’s when I made the decision to stay.
